The Cabinet of Caerphilly county borough council has decided unanimously to sell the Rhiw-Syr-Dafydd School site after the children move to their new premises at Oakdale Infants School. The representation made for alternative after use for community activites by your local councillors was rejected. The representations to the Cabinet made by Oakdale and Penmaen Partnership were not even raised during the presentation to Cabinet. A statement was made by a Cabinet member but there was no debate on the matter before the vote was taken.

The school is one of the oldest buildings in the village (1907/8), older than the Institute which was thought worth preserving at the Museum of Welsh life in Cardiff. We think that the residents of the village should be able to have their say on what happens to it. Register your vote NOW, BEFORE IT'S TO LATE!

You will only be able to vote once, so make sure you click in the right place.

To ensure that the poll is fair and accurate multiple voters will be instantlly and automatically barred from using the poll AND the Forum.

THE POLL IS NOW CLOSED. THE RESULT WAS AS FOLLOWS :

1. Demolish it and build community housing in its place 0

2. Demolish it and sell off the land to the highest bidder 8

3. Preserve the building for community use 110

4. Demolish the building but retain the land for community use 1

5. Sell it and use the proceeds to help pay for the new school 8
