Recreation ground – Contractors have started work. It will be completed within time scale. They are re-grading pitch and will provide an additional training pitch and skateboard park. Application has been put forward and will be decided on the 25th July for the Youth Shelter and lighting. Can the gates of the Recreation ground be refurbished when the park has been completed? The MUGA will be completed on 7.7.05. It is with regret that we note it has already been vandalised.

Bridleway: Gone out to tender. We need to sign lease before work can be carried out. Mike expressed concern about the culvert and whether it can cope with the storm water off the new estates. He has also expressed concern about the lack of safety signs. Mike is to Liase with June who works for the Highway dept., the Partnership will pay for the signs (Oakdale side)

Road Signs : Required for each side of Central Avenue directing people to village, also signs are required in village to direct people to the Community Centre and Recreational Ground. There has been a change of Head of service. There is a current policy of reducing street clutter such as signs- this policy is going to be revised but may take up to 6 months. Tina said it would be advisable to spend the area forum budget now and there will be another amount available by the time the policy has been finalised.

Penmaen Churchyard: Male voice Choir are to do a H & S assessment on the graveyard with the view to us restarting the project with the help of New Deal.

Questionnaire: We need to raise people’s awareness of the need to complete the questionnaire. It will be mentioned in the concerts, word of mouth and possibly posters.

Greengo: New planting has taken place, the Cenotaph has been cleaned, the tubs are in place and there has been no damage yet! The council has given permission for us to site the concrete planters donated by Costains. Costains will require the permission letter before issuing the planters. Redrow and Persimmon homes have been contacted about sponsoring our area.

Rhiw-Syr-Dafydd School There is a meeting in the Cabinet Offices on the 13th July @ 3.30pm. Granville and Roger will give a presentation and ask for more time.

WW2 Commemorative Project Oakdale Infant school - Senior Citizen concert was a success, it was an excellent concert and the children sang perfectly. Displays were also on show

Thursday night Concert - Sell Out!- 200 tickets sold and we could have sold double.

Friday night concert. Help will be required about 4.00 O’clock to set out the chairs. We need to continue to sell tickets for this. It will be an excellent concert.

Saturday –Roll In- Roll Out: As much help as possible is required, people were asked to attend at approx., 9.00 am. Granville took the names of all those who are committed to turn up. Granville, Bert & David and all the others have worked extremely hard and Roger on behalf of the Partnership thanked them all.

Sunday- Memorial March: This has been well organised and will be an excellent day, after the Church service there will be coffee & Tea served in the Community Centre.

Any other Business

Anti-Social behaviour is on the decline, there have been a few arrests. 2 vehicles have been stolen and found burnt out locally. There has been one attempted burglary- via a patio door and a lady had her handbag stolen. Overall the crime rate has gone down. The cameras are now working. Mike reported that there are a lot of vehicles in Banana Island and an old caravan. Tina asked if she should put in a bid for general running costs to support events. The answer is yes! The question was raised as to whether the Square could be cleaned in readiness for Sunday. Cllr John Evans stated that it is cleaned daily, other members of the Partnership verified this. However, John will ask them to have a concentrated effort on Sunday. The Bus Stop opposite Comprehensive School has not been marked as a Bus Bay. This results in cars parking in this area and causing an obstruction. Markings will be placed on the road as soon as possible.
