MINUTES MEETING WEDNESDAY 4TH February 2009 HELD AT OAKDALE COMMUNITY CENTRE 6.30PM. John Evans Burt Harper Ashridge Apologies Doug Touhig MP Cllr. Allan Prichard Chairman’s Opening Remarks. In spite of the bad weather it is good to see so many attending the meeting. Apologies Apologies were received from the above and the attendance book signed, additional contact details were obtained from members to bring the records up to date. Minutes of the last meeting The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as a true record. Matters arising Aberconway Gardens item, No.9 on the agenda (Centenary Heritage Museum) that the partnership would need to make up funds as the Oakdale bowls club donated funds to place a seat in the museum. Financial Statement. The Treasurer handed out the current financial statement of accounts at February 4th 2009. January closing balance £84.32 February Opening Balance £311.82 Coordinators Report Damien reported that investigations were continuing relating to the water supply which had been left on underground when the toilets had been knocked down. Damien also reported that£2,925 was the balance in our Area Forum Budget. Other information to follow in projects update. Coalface update – From Helen Thomas (Urban Renewal – CCBC) The Chair introduced HT from CCBC. The purpose of HT attending was to update the partnership on the “Coalface” artwork. HT distributed the latest images and pointed out the artwork was now at the foundry. It has been covered with a unified clay wash for photographic purpose but the final colour is to be bronze with a black/brown patina. Correspondence The Chair opened a discussion having received correspondence on the LDP. 2 sites, the land behind Bryn Howard Tce, and Oakdale golf course were discussed at length. Funding and Fundraising Area Forum Budget – The Chair suggested there is a need to improve a bridge over the ty – philicin brook adjacent to Penmaen chapel this would cost around £700 +VAT. JE pointed out that this is a public right of way and that it would be CCBCs responsibility. JE to follow up with June Piper (ROW officer) Newsletter The Chair suggested to the meeting that the officer meeting had proposed that rather than a quarterly newsletter that we produce one 3 times a year. GH pointed out that the newsletter was a good vehicle for connecting with the community and that the interest and response was favourable and that to reduce the number of issues would be a negative step. It was suggested that the partnership should secure sponsorship for our newsletters. Project Updates Graffiti Artwork A meeting should have taken place with a graffiti artist to discuss getting some graffiti art at the skatepark, this was postponed because of the snow and will be rearranged. Centenary GH reported that progress was slow relating to the Oakdale heritage museum, but a planned programme was now in place. Any Other Business DO pointed out that there are reports of young people congregating outside the Chinese takeaway on the square. Members were advised to report any incidents to the police and to raise the issue at the next PACT meeting. The meeting ended at 8.10pm. Date of next meeting.
