Minutes of the October Meeting: Were passed as a true record.

Digital Story Telling.

Roger introduced Kate Strudwick who was to display the new art of one of the oldest communications, that of storytelling.

Kate suggested that everyone has a story to tell, short stories, not big enough for a book or film. Digital stories can mean talking to each other, collecting social history, engaging scripts of about 250 words and pictures to illustrate a story which adds interest by voice.

Kate continued by showing four short films one by our very own Tina, title “Getting Ready for Work and School”.

Geoff Jones asked if advice on money could be provided. Kate suggested that funding could be available from the Welsh Arts Council. She would send details to Granville.

Treasurer’s Report.

It was reported that the balance of funds in the Focus Group account had been transferred to that of the Partnership. This was £294.29. The account balance stood at £664.46.

Project Updates.

Skateboard Park.

Investigations were still being made and a meeting arranged with Peter Gomer and Nigel Powell of CCBC on November 24th.

The Oakdale Square Project.

Rob Onions reported that a meeting took place on 19th October with CCBC John Ridgewell and agreement with particular emphasis on opening up the area to allow a clear view down the Square and to the vista beyond.

The beds around the Cenotaph will be slightly enlarged and the bed in front of the toilet unit will be improved, prior to planting which is likely to be polyanthis.

Crocus bulbs for naturalising into the lawn areas, proposals for enhanced planting will take place between Steve Trew and Geoff Jones.

Mair Gwyn pointed out that whilst the planting was to be commended, the toilet unit would also need attention.

Penmaen Church Yard.

There was an updated report with contact being made with the New Deal Environmental Task Force (ETF) and further discussions need to take place for the total clearance of the undergrowth and “knotweed” contained within the boundaries. It was suggested the Secretary write to Andrew Whitcombe.

Green Gro.

The Green Gro Project is progressing and plots of land identified as to ownership.

General.

Partnership Action Plan.

It was suggested that the Partnership form a small working party to produce a Partnership Action Plan the concept being to examine current projects within the Community Plan as well as the wider community.

The projects should be allocated according to their place within the vision framework in an attempt to ascertain gaps in provision enlisting suggestions for projects within the Action Plan.

This collated material should then be circulated for wider consultation and become the backbone of the Draft Plan.
