OAKDALE is a former coal mining village 800 feet above sea level in the
County Borough of Caerffili (Caerphilly),
south WALES.
Until 1996 it was in the Borough of Islwyn and County of Gwent, (Monmouthshire)
and is situated in the Sirhowy valley. Oakdale has excellent road communications via the B4251/A467,
which connects directly to the M4 motorway at
NEWPORT
(13 miles) and is within easy reach of the Welsh capital,
CARDIFF. (15 miles)
The BRECON BEACONS
National Park is a 30 minute car journey away,
as are the picturesque WYE VALLEY
and the holiday resort of BARRY ISLAND.
