OAKDALE is a former coal mining village 800 feet above sea level in the County Borough of Caerffili (Caerphilly), south WALES. Until 1996 it was in the Borough of Islwyn and County of Gwent, (Monmouthshire) and is situated in the Sirhowy valley. Oakdale has excellent road communications via the B4251/A467, which connects directly to the M4 motorway at NEWPORT (13 miles) and is within easy reach of the Welsh capital, CARDIFF. (15 miles)

The BRECON BEACONS National Park is a 30 minute car journey away, as are the picturesque WYE VALLEY and the holiday resort of BARRY ISLAND.

Leave Motorway (signposted Risca) then at roundabout take 3rd exit A467 A467 Junction with A468 At roundabout take 3rd exit A467 (signposted Brynmawr) (A467) Full Moon Roundabout (Junction with A4048) At roundabout take 3rd exit (A467) (road to) Cwmcarn Forest Drive (on right) At roundabout take 2nd exit (A467) (edge of) Abercarn (A467) Celynen Roundabout At roundabout take 3rd exit (signposted Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale) (A467) Newbridge Technology Park At Traffic signals forward (A467) Arrive at Crumlin Junction with A472 : Traffic lights. Turn left onto B4251 (signposted Oakdale) 2 miles arrive at Oakdale (post office)
