  10. Message for GAIL EVANS, granddaughter of Elizabeth Ann Shaw nee Rees. My name is Angela Margaret Wise. I am the daughter of Owen Richard Rees, youngest son of Edward Rees and Frances Mary Humphreys of Oakdale. Their youngest daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rees married James Shaw in 1924. Elizabeth & James had two children: Sonia born 1933 and Paul born 1937. One of my earliest memories is travelling to Urmston to visit Uncle Horace (for violin lesson) and to stay with Aunt Bessie (your grandmother). I started to research the Rees family tree about two years ago. I started with the 1901 Census records and worked backwards to the marriage of Edward Rees & Elizabeth Mills on 27 June 1842 in Sirhowy, parish of Bedwellty.

I have now started to work forward from 1901 but I am struggling to find the correct marriage record for Beatrice Maud Rees (born 1891) and Frances Mary Rees (born 1898). I have found several for Beatrice Maud Rees but only one for Frances Mary Rees (registration district Pontypridd; for other children it was Newport) I would appreciate any information you can give me.

  11. I am looking for any imformation on Thomas and Elizabeth Jenkins (nee Taylor). Thomas was born 1844, not sure where, and Elizabeth born 1849, in Abercarn. The 1901 census shows Elizabeth was living in Llwynon, I'm not 100% sure but have been told this is one of the cottages opposite the Top Hat Club. Elizabeth is shown as widowed on this census. I can't find any imformation about Thomas's death. The 1891 census shows Elizabeth as married but Thomas is not shown as living at the same address, and I can't find him anywhere else. I would be very grateful for any imformation on this matter, as I am baffled.

  12. I'm searching for any information on WILLIAM MORGAN of Blackwood. He married DOROTHY BARTLETT (a widow) some time around the 1930s or 40's. They had a daughter, MARGARET MORGAN, along with Dorothy's son from a previous marriage, BRYN BARTLETT, and lived for some time in Lewis Street. Williams parents were ROBERT THOMAS MORGAN and ELIZABETH EDWARDS (b.1876), also of Lewis Street.
If anyone has these names in their trees, or remembers anything about them, I would appreciate anything they could tell me as there's a bit of a mystery I need some help with! Many many thanks.
