I am looking for the BUCK family. Especially George Henry Buck who was living in Bedwellty about 1900 – 1913 with his wife Sarah Jane (Andrews) and two daughters, Sarah Jane and Emily Maud Buck. Sarah Jane died January 1913 and is buried in the Bedwellty churchyard. George Henry Buck remarried in August 1913 to an Emily Green. They were supposed to be members of the Salvation Army but I have not proved this. Does anyone know of the Bucks of this area. Thank You.

Hi does any one know the whereabouts of GILLIAN TREASURE please. I would like to contact Her to see if She is the same branch of the Treasure Family as Myself, as I am researching the Family Tree and would to share any info I have. There is a photo of Her the Oakdale Site. She is playing the recorder in the group photo 1948. I live in the Blackwood area. Many thanks LINDA SIMPSON Nee Hopkins.
My great-grandparents Robert and Catherine Osborne were very involved in Jerusalem Chapel in
the early 20th Century. I am wondering if anybody knows the about the history of the chapel and
could contact me? They returned to London in the early 1920s as both were ill and died shortly
after leaving my grandmother, Lilian Loretta, to bring up her youngest 2 siblings (my great aunt
is 90 and still alive). My grandfather, Thomas John Lewis, was born in Blackwood and his father
and brother were miners. Some family members still live in the area.
Any information about the chapel or chapel records (I wonder if my grandparents may have been
married there and also if there first child who died very young may have been buried there).
Trying to find trace of Catherine Chervette WILLIAMS nee JONES (b. Mamhilad 1815) wife of Robert WILLIAMS (surgeon) of Mynyddislwyn, Monmouthshire, whose daughter Margaret Eliza WILLIAMS was born in Mynyddislwyn sometime between 1837- 1843. Have been unable to find registration or baptism record of the daughter's birth or find the family on the 1841 census, except that is for the Robert Williams in Monmouth debtors' prison who may or may not belong to this family. Any clues or suggestions of possible references would be welcome.
My Grandfather CLIFFORD HARRIS was b1891 Six Bells Llanhilleth his parents were WILLIAM HARRIS b.c 1871 (coal miner and subsequently Miners Agent), Mother MARY JANE REDWOOD b1871. I have discovered that CLIFFORD had 3 sisters GWLADYS b, c.1893, ELSIE b, c.1895, OLWEN b.c 1897. Some family photographs mention Uncles Archie and Willie but whether they were Clifford's I don't know.
CLIFFORD married SARAH ELIZABETH KEELING in 1917 and his address given on the certificate was Bryn Road, Pontllanfraith, Monmouth.
I have no other information at all on his father's background or sisters so any help would be welcome. Thanks
I am trying to trace my husband's maternal grandparents.
Thomas Rogers born approx 1899 married an Annie Ivy Morgan born approx 1902.
Thomas's father was a Samuel Rogers. His siblings are thought to be Samuel, Ciss, Tilly, May.
Annie's father was a Charles Morgan, who at the time of their marriage had died.
Her siblings are believed to be Thomas, Ciss, Olwyn, (could be spelt Olwen) David.
Both Thomas and Charles were miners.
According to the marriage certificate Annie lived at Beech Grove, Oakdale, Mynyddislwyn.
Anyone with details of either the Morgan or Rogers family please contact !!
I am trying to find out about the GALLENT family who seemed to be based in
the BLACKWOOD area in 1870's-1900's. My grandmother was Verlie, grt aunt
Peggy, Jane(Jinny)and grt uncle Leslie. Their parents were William and
Louisa Gallent nee Watkins. The Gallent name seems untraceable and I
wondered if it has changed over the years. Any info please let me know.
I'm trying to trace my family who moved to Wales from Hull in the 1910's.
My grandparents Frederick Oswald Duncan and Daisy Invicta Duncan ( nee Powell).
For a time they ran or worked for a dental practice , they lived in Pengam ( 32 Central Avenue, Garden City ? )
and my father Ian Oswald ( Henry ) Duncan ( their son ) went to St Thomas church, Fleur De Lis.
The name is clearly written in his Sunday School book
Any knowledge of Powells in that area who may be connected with my gmother which might explain why they moved there would be of help.
Anyone who knows of or knew Ian Oswald Duncan who lived in the area until the late 1920s early 1930s please get in touch.
Any help with any of the above would be greatly appreciated.
My name is Colin Bedingfield, at present living in Waterford Ireland. My mother's maiden name was Jones and I think my granparents had the "Top Farm" on Mynyddislwyn and I was probably christened in the church there approx 1944/5.
My mothers name was Emily-Jane, and I think one of her sisters was "Pop" Davis of 2 White Cottages Gelligroes.
Any info would be gratefully received.
