I am researching my great grandfather who was born in Fleur de lis South Wales in 1856. The family was only in that area for a short while.
I am wondering where the church records for his birth and any related church records such as the birth of a sister, possible marriages and
burials for other family members would be for the Fleur de lis area. Would they be in Mynyddyslwyn or Penmaen or somewhere else?
I have a copy of his birth certificate from the General Register Office, Registration District of Newport, sub-district of Mynyddyslwyn.
I would appreciate any advice that anyone can offer.
My name is Lynne Woodley and I have been tracing both my husband's and my family history for a number of years. My families originated in Tredegar,
LEWIS and Blaina/Newbridge, THOMAS, whilst my husband's were from Oxford
WOODLEY and Maesycwmmer/Blackwood CREWS.
It is this latter name that I have been having the most probelm with.
Kathleen CREW born in 1924 in Blackwood was the daughter of JOHN and EDITH CREW (nee EDWARDS). Her sister and brothers were Edith Maud, William John and Ronald F.
Can anyone help, I believe there is a connection with the Maesycwmmer Inn, but know little else.
Thanks
I am looking for any information on my Gt Gt Grandparents. John Davies was a lodger to a family called Morgans at Tredegar Road Row, Bedwellty in 1851. Between then and 1857 he married Mary Owens from Pembroke and their daughter Elinor was born in Mynyddislwyn in 1857. The family then moved to the outskirts of Abersychan. Does anyone have Elinor in their family tree?
I am researching my Wife's family history. Her
Grandfather was John Charles DAVIES who was born in
Crumlin in 1893.
His family were Bootmakers and in 1901 lived at
2, Kenston Rd., Abercarn .
Any information on the family would be appreciated.
I do know that in the 1906's Gwen Adams nee Davies was
living in Crumlin.
I am trying to trace where my grandfather William MORGAN was born. I understand he had a brother called Jack.
William married before 1917 maybe in London and returned to his home area of Wales with his family, wife Minta, daughters Dorothy and Vera, there may have been an older boy. William MORGAN had left his wife and family before 1934 when Dorothy married Harold PRITCHARD. Her address at that time was Woodfield, Mynyddislwyn. Dorothy had a cousin called Doris (maybe MORGAN) and there is a lady who was fondly known as Aunty Top (may have married a MORGAN) who bore about 11 children(1930/40's). I believe they lived around the Blackwood/Pontllanfraith area. Can anyone help?

I am having difficulty tracing my fathers relatives to complete my family tree.
My fathers name was David Llewllyn Matthews, his birth certificate shows his address as 3 Foundry Cottages, Blackwood, Bedwellty, he was born in October 1931. His father's name was Reginald Matthews and mother's name Evelyn Wood. Reginald was a colliery lampforeman in 1931.
Evelyn and Reginald married in 1930, his address at this time was 40 Central Avenue, Oakdale, Mynyddislwyn, his age is noted as being 37. Evelyn was a nurse who lived at the Voluntary Hospital, Dann? She was 27.
Reginalds father is shown on the marriage certificate as Samuel Matthews who was a coal Hewer.
The witnesses to the wedding were Annie May Matthews and Henry Matthews. No known addresses for these two. My father and his brother used to mention Annie May with great affection.
Evelyn left Reginald possibly in the late 1930's and came back to her home town of Chesterfield, Derbyshire with two small sons, my father David Llewllyn and his younger brother John. I think my father was about 8 yrs old.
Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated as I have managed to trace all my mothers family back to the early 1800's but despite using all the paying web sites and the free ones I don't seem to be getting anywhere!
Thanks Ann Marie.
