My grandfather was born BERTIE BEVAN in GRANGETOWN, CARDIFF to a
POLLY BEVAN in 1895 but was later 'adopted' by ALFRED HINDER and his wife. Their address in the 1901
census is given as 97 GREENFIELD, NEW TREDEGAR, by which time my grandfather's name was 'BERTIE
HINDER, aged 6 -born NEW TREDEGAR'. He was the family's eldest child. The names of the other
children were-MAUD, BEATRICE & TREVOR. They later moved to ABERBARGOED/BARGOED. ALFRED worked as a
'Colliery Horse Driver Below ground' Following the death of his wife JANE, ALFRED HINDER remarried.
His second wife was ANNIE (from Beaufort?) and they had four more children -MADGE, PEG, CHARLIE (who
died in 1995) and IVY. I would love to hear from anyone who can help me piece this jig-saw together.
Thank you.
