   We used to live in Oakdale too. We are Gwyn and Val Gregory, we lived in 24 Llwynon Rd and we can remember you from the stute in Oakdale 25yrs ago. Hope you can remember us too. Gwyn was a crane driver in Oakdale colliery and Val was a hairdresser in the village.

6. I'm trying to trace some history on a local boxer from the early 1900's. He boxed as "Benny Springfield", although his real name was Williams. At one time he kept the Beaufort Arms in Newbridge,and was married to Alice May. Can anyone remember him at the Beaufort Arms, or his wife Alice May. Or indeed, any details about his boxing career.

10. I lived at Croespenmaen, then for a year or so in the old Rhiw hill cottages (long- demolished), and went to school in Oakdale from 1949-54. Anyone still around who might remember me? 12. I was born and raised in Oakdale, going to the elementary school and then to Pengam Grammar. I lived in Oakdale from 1943 to 1961 and come back every year to visit my mother, NANCY MORGAN, who still lives at "LLWYN CELYN", next to THE VILLAGER. I'll probably be back in September of '05 and would love to meet old school mates and share some of lives adventures. I love to hear from anybody who's interested. 15. My name was GLORIA WEBBER now POW. I was brought up in OAKDALE and went to Hengoed (school for girls). I was very into sports and played tennis, lacrosse and netball. I have been living in the USA for thirty-eight years in ROCHESTER, upstate NEW YORK about 80 miles from NIAGARA FALLS. I am still into sports and have done two HONOLULU marathons and a half-marathon at age 60 and 61. I hope people know of the 100 year celebration of OAKDALE coming up in 2007 and I hope my husband and I will be there. Anyone who remembers me I will be pleased to hear from you. However, I did organise a get-together in OAKDALE in 2004 which was a hugh success and am already in contact with many of my old school friends.
