SIRHOWY VALLEY COUNTRY PARK

Sirhowy Valley Country Park is set in 1000 acres of woodland and farmland stretching along 4 miles of the Sirhowy Valley on the former mineral railway lines that transported coal to Cardiff.
On site is the recently restored Penllwyn Tramroad Bridge, complete with original stone sleepers.

The Full Moon Visitor Centre provides details on trails and activities in the park, which include rambling, cycling and horse riding and the park is also a great base for walking
At the heart of the Sirhowy Valley Country Park lies the Ynys Hywel Centre. A converted 17th century farmhouse which offers conference facilities, Sunday lunches, a weekend coffee shop with craft demonstrations (April-September only).

Take a gentle stroll along the former railway tracks (they're flat!) or ramble down through the
Flatwoods Meadows Local Nature Reserve alongside the Sirhowy River.
More challenging are the climbs to Graig Goch Wood or Twyn yr Oerfel but the views are clearly worth it.
Those on two wheels can cycle in safety along route 47 of the National Cycleway.
