Two different generations met when older people met pupils of Oakdale Comprehensive
school around tables in their school.
These pictures are of Oakdale residents, Linc-Cymu tenants, living in Village Court
and members of the Oakdale Partnership who were ‘interviewed’ by pupils of
Oakdale Comprehensive school as part of a Reminiscence project developed by
Linc-Cymru housing association, in partnership with the Oakdale residents
and the school. This developed into an intergenerational project which
looked at the lives of local residents and what they did when they were young.
The young people designed a series of questions and learned about horses
pulling milk carts, the Miners strike, the Greenham Common protest, selling
badges and scarves in France to raise money for the striking miners families
and much more.
This project helped to promote a positive image of older people for young
people and visa versa and was very successful.
